Creating fine art with pencil and digital drawings

About CmstudioArt

I am a self-taught wildlife artist living in the Eden Valley area of Cumbria and I have a studio/gallery at Farfield Mill near Sedbergh Cumbria.  My main subjects include British wildlife, animals and birds, as well as sheep, butterflies and flowers.

My art is drawn using either graphite pencils or coloured pencils. These are drawn onto either A4 or A3 white Bristol board, and some of these originals are available to purchase. I also draw digital art using an Apple pencil on the Procreate app on an iPad Pro. Once drawn this artwork can be saved as either a Jpeg or a PNG file.

In recent years I've developed my own art business called CmstudioArt and I produce work in a variety of subject matters including birds and animals. All of my work, from original pieces, prints and greeting cards are available to purchase at Farfield Mill near Sedbergh Cumbria, where I have a studio in collaboration with my wife Vicki of "Woolcraft". Here she produces her own range of crafts from small objects such as brooches to larger ones such as cushions and rugs, using wool and fleece from British sheep. What is Digital Art?

Digital art is like any other form of art. The main difference is that it is drawn or painted with digital tools rather than conventional pencil and paper.

My digital wildlife and landscape art is drawn on an iPad Pro using an app called Procreate. I draw and paint my work using an Apple pencil on the iPad screen in the same way as I would draw graphite or coloured pencil drawings onto art paper.

The app gives me the ability to use different brushes and colours, the same as other form of paintings. The main difference is that there is no physical original as it is kept as a file on the computer, rather like digital photos. The computer has no direct involvement in what is created, it still has to come from me via the Apple pencil drawing and painting onto the screen.

The finished art can then be printed off onto 260grm white matt photo card to sell as either framed or unframed prints of various sizes.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work, and if you have any questions concerning my work, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many kind regards Carl
